Although Brumado is famous for its Uvite Tourmaline specimens, here is another species of Tourmaline from the mine. This is the first time I have had any of these. This was the best specimen of the lot. It has the typical reddish brown color but it exhibits not only a better red but some green also. The specimen is very lustrous and the crystals are gemmy. The main crystal is particularly nice being 15 mm long, double terminated and very gemmy when held up to the light. The one termination exhibits a greenish color which is very unusual. This termination is very thin and consists of only two of the sides of the crystal giving it a hollowed out apsect. The specimen is in very good condition with the only appreciable damage being to one of the termination of the second largest crystal.
