Mineral Specimen #882 Almandine Garnet on Rhyolite
Garnet Hill, Ely, Robinson District, White Pine Co., Nevada, USA
Dark, almost black Garnet crystals with a high luster and sharply defined crystals perched on light rhyolite. In the past, most specimens from the location were labeled as being Spessartine; however, repeated analysis indicates Almandine. The specimen is in very good condition with the exception of a bit of a film on a couple of the faces of the large crystal (which is 6 mm across).
