Mineral Specimen #86 Silver/Copper Halfbreed
Quincy Mine, Quincy Hill, Houghton County, Michigan, USA
This specimen shows an old patina on the Copper. There is a large proportion of Silver on this specimen. The Quincy Mine is today open to tours. The name, halfbreed, derives from early American deragatory slang for a person of European and Native American parentage since they were considered part white and part red similar to the color of copper/silver specimens.
