Mineral Specimen #811 Grossular Garnet
Lake Jaco, Sierra de la Cruz, Mun. de Sierra Mojada, Coahuila, Mexico
This is a very large, single Grossular Garnet crystal. The color is a rich, dark pink on three faces, olive green on two faces, and shades between the two colors on the other faces. There is one face missing which was the point of attachment. The surfaces of the specimen have a high luster. The specimen comes from an old collection from suburban Detroit. Although there is some damage in the form of internal fractures, the specimen is actually much more attractive in person.
