Mineral Specimen #805    Chromian Uvite, Magnesite with Fairfieldite

Brumado. Bahia, Brazil

Fairfieldite: Ca2(Mn2+,Fe2+)(PO4)2·2H2

This specimen consists of well formed dark red Chromian Uvite crystals on a bed of Magnesite. The Magnesite has a pinkish orange tint caused by the inclusion of small Uvite crystals. The specimen is in excellent condition with no appreciable damage. The Fairfieldite is quite small and contained within Magnesite crystals.
