Galena, Picher Field, Tri-State District, Cherokee Co., Kansas, USA

The cluster of 3 Sphalerite crystals on this specimen is gemmy with a high luster. The cluster has a good reddish brown color, thus the variety name Ruby Jack. The largest crystal is 9 mm across. The Sphalerite cluster is damage free and in excellent condition. The Galena has a bright luster and composed of an assemblage of cubic crystals. The side opposite the Sphalerite is a cleavage plain. One side is also a point of attachment to the matrix.
