Mineral Specimen #72    Indicolite Tourmaline (Elbaite) on/in Double Terminated Quartz

Mina Santa Rosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil

The color of the Tourmaline crystals is a blue with a tint of green best described as teal color. The Tourmaline crystals are both on and within a large double teminated elestial Quartz crystal. The longest Tourmaline crystals are 2 cm in length. The Quartz is a very complicated crystal. It is quite gemmy in the interior, and gemmy to the surface in some areas and not in others. There are some internal fractures which yield rainbows. The color of the Quartz is just slightly smoky. There is minor abrasion on the edges of one termination.
