Mineral Specimen #727 Fluorapatite, Fluorite, Apatite
Cardiff Uranium Mine, Cardiff Township, Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada
This is material that is seldom seen for sale and was collected in the late 1970s. Purple Fluorite running through Calcite with green to black Augite and Apatite crystals. I got a large box of this material and this was the only specimen with this color of Apatite (and which had terminated crystals). The Apatite crystals have a very high luster and almost appear as having melted. Apparently, the color of the Fluorite is enhanced by its long exposure to radiation. That being said, the specimen does not register on a geiger counter.
