Ex. E. Morales from the Mineral Cabinet, Seton Hall show, Aug. 1982

A thin layer of Quartz crystals formed on the surface of Calcite crystals which were later completely dissolved leaving the specimen mostly hollow. The Quartz crystals are a light gray/tan color and have a sparkly luster. In the interior of the specimen, there is a layer of dark brown material undercoating the Quartz which sharply defines the absent Calcite crystals. Interestingly, more Calcite later formed in the interior and then was partially dissolved (which may or may not have been natural).

Condition: Very Good to Excellent

Flaws: There is a little bit of bruising on a couple of the terminations along the edge of the specimen.
