Mineral Specimen #6818    Agate, Banded and Moss with Minor Included Copper

No. 21 shaft, Calumet & Hecla Mine, Calumet, Calumet Township, Houghton Co., Michigan

3.2 x 2.1 x 2.2 and 3.3 x 2.2 x 1.2 cm
2 x 1.6 x 0.8 in

Ex. A. E. Seaman Museum

Despite the museum label, there is very little native Copper present in this agate, just small flecks. That being said, it is an interesting specimen due to the presence of both banding and red and green moss like structures. The Copper is present in both the banded areas and in the red colored moss. The specimen has a high polish. Also, this is an example of Lake Superior Agate found in situ.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
