Ex. A. E. Seaman Museum, Furatena of Ann Arbor, Michigan

Cream colored, sawtooth Barite crystals which are actually clear underneath a secondary coating. Most of the faces of the crystals are coated with the secondary coating and have a matte luster. There are some faces without this coating. These faces have a high luster and exhibit darker phantoms. The crystals are translucent when back lit. The specimen has a price sticker from a small jewelry store in Ann Arbor, Michigan that was in business in the 1970s and also sold mineral specimens. The name of the mine on this sticker is misspelled.

Condition: Good

Flaws: Some of the crystals on the edges of the specimen are broken near their bases revealing the lighter colored, nearly clear, Barite underneath. Some of the other crystals appear to be broken. However, the shape of these breaks does not indicate any cleavage planes and there is a secondary coating on these surfaces.
