Mineral Specimen #6621 Krohnkite, Caracolite
Mina la Compania, Caracoles, Sierra Gorda, Atacama, Chile
10.2 x 7.3 x 5.1 cm
4 x 2.9 x 2 in
Na2Cu(SO4)2·2H2O and Na3Pb2(SO4)3Cl
There are two rare species on this specimen, vivid apple green colored, translucent Krohnkite crystals and the even rarer Caracolite. The Carocolite is present as small, very thin, hexagonal clear crystals. The location is very near the type location, also in Caracoles, where the crystals are essentially the same.
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
