This specimen is a Midwest classic consisting of a gemmy, golden yellow cubic crystal of Fluorite with one smaller crystal at its base. The color is difficult to accurately reproduce but is closest in the next to last photo. The crystal has a high glassy luster with smooth sides and is transparent with the exception of some internal cleaves. The crystal is large for the location from which specimens are seldom available. The quarry has actually been in production for over 150 years but collecting is seldom allowed. In fact, I was a dealer at the Fort Wayne show for nearly 20 years and there was only pne time I can remember when the local club that sponsored the show was allowed to collect. I was lucky enough to see a world class specimen, bright yellow in color, that one of the workers at the quarry brought into show. He said he had quite a few more but when I asked if he was interested in selling any, he declined saying he could be fired for doing so. Norm liked this specimen so much, he had a $90 asking price on it.

Condition: Good

Flaws: There is some chipping on the edges and corner which can best be seen in the first photo.
