Mineral Specimen #6440    Augite, Scapolite, Calcite

Yates mine, Otter Lake, Pontiac RCM, Outaouais, Quebec, Canada

6 x 4.2 x 2 cm
2.4 x 1.7 x 0.8 in

Sold

Someone has acid etched the orange Calcite on this specimen to expose the well formed black colored Augit crystals and the white to gray colored Scapolite crystals. Please note: apparently no one ever cleaned the specimen much after the acid wash - much of white film on the Calcite seen in the photos has come off just during subsequent handling. Under SW, the Scapolite fluoresces red.

Condition: Good
