Eclogite is a mafic metamorphic rock that forms at greater pressure than usually found in the crust. The Eclogite from the Berkeley Hills are considered to have been formed in the subduction zone of the crust. The Garnet crystals in this specimen are particularly well formed and of a more orange color than usually seen.
