Mineral Specimen #6157 Marcasite on Barite with Calcite and Fluorite
Eyam, Derbyshire, England
7.6 x 5.4 x 5.7 cm
Sold
Ex. H. R. McBroom, from trade with Eric Otty, 1981
White bladed Barite crystals are partially coated with dark colored Marcasite crystals which have a metallic, sparkly luster. Although the old McBroom label says Pyrite, close examine of the crystal structure, reveals the crystals are Marcasite. On the bottom of the specimen, there are off-white colored Fluorite and Calcite crystals. It is likely the specimen is from the Ladysmith mine.
Condition: Good
Flaws: A few of the Barite crystals are incomplete.
