Ex. H.R. McBroom, purchased from Sam Weller, 1987

Hematite is present on this specimen in three different forms. Most of one side of this specimen and much of the other side are covered with small, platy crystals which have a very high, sparkly luster which is known as Specular Hematite or Specularite. These specular crystals cover reddish brown colored botryoidal Hematite. In places, the Specularite is missing, removing the underlying botryoidal Hematite. Hematite is also present as reddish inclusions in stubby Quartz crystals which have a high. glassy luster.

Condition: Good

Flaws: On one side of the specimen, there is a small damaged area (upper left corner of specimen in fisrt photo).
