Mineral Specimen #610 Fluorapatite
Panasqueira Mines, Panasqueira, Covilha, Castelo Branco District, Portugal
Ex. Marty Zinn Flurescent LW and SW
This is a very large single crystal of Fluorapatite. The color is a dark forest green. When backlit, distinctive growth lines are visible. There are a few chips along the edge (clearly visible in the photos). Under UV, the crystal fluoresces a orange/yellow with the growth zone layers clearly visible but different layers glow stronger under shorrtwave and longwave. The UV photo was done under SW and the greenish coloration and blue specks should be disregarded.
