The surface of this specimen is covered with Clinochlore crystals which are a rich red/violet color. The color is due to the presence of chromium and is referred to as Kammererite. The crystals range in size form microscopic to 6 mm. The crystals are translucent. There is a secondary growth of microscopic crystals which are lighter in color. This secondary growth covers the crystal bearing surface and also one side, always orientated in the same direction, of the larger crystals. The larger crystals have striated faces.
