Mineral Specimen #6068    Azurite, Malachite

Liufengshan Mine, Guichi District, Chizhou Prefecture, Anhui Province, China

6.8 x 6.6 x 4.2 cm

Sold

Much of this specimen is covered with rich, dark, navy blue colored Azurite crystals. The crystals have occurred in multiple layers of vugs in between which are layers of bright green Malachite. The specimen stands upright with no propping as depicted in the first two photos. There is an interesting circular growth of crystals near the top of the specimen which is lighter on color and appears be a lower layer of crystals. Note: the color of the Azurite in this circular area, as well as on the edges of the crystals, is darker than depicted in the pictures.

Condition: Good

Flaws: There appears to be a layer of Azurite missing where the lighter colored, spherical, radiating crystals are.
