Mineral Specimen #602 Polished Fluorite with Chalcopyrite Inclusions
Cave-In-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois
Fluorescent LW and SW
This is a small polished piece of yellow Fluorite with bright, shiny inclusions of Chalcopyrite crystals. Just below one side, there is a thin layer of purple Fluorite. This layer fluoresces bright yellow under both longwave and shortwave UV. The surface of the included Chalcopyrite crystals also glow orange. The fluorescence is due hydrocarbons.
