The surface of this specimen is covered with Spessartine crystals which are an attractive orange color. The crystals are well formed, have a high, sparkly luster and are translucent. Beneath the Spessartine crystals, and poking through in places, are black colored Smoky Quartz crystals. Where there are Smoky Quartz crystals beneath the Spessartine, the color of the Spessartine is darkened. This location has been closed since 2008 and the price of specimens from the location has been climbing dramatically in recent years. Fortunately, we purchased a large quantity of specimens just before the location was turned into a nature area by the Chinese government. That being said, this is one of the last of the larger specimens left.

Condition: Good

Flaws: There Is a narea where a Smoky Quartz crystal broke at its base leaving a damgaged area approximately 1.5 cm across. The rest of the specimen is in very good to excellent condition.
