Prince of Arizona Mine, Baldy Mountain, Pikes Peak Dist., Maricopa Co., Arizona

8.9 x 6.3 x 3.2 cm

Sold

This specimen is from an old, obscure, small mine which was worked from 1920 until 1940. Specimens from the mineral are rarely available. The Vanadinite crystal are small and an attractive orange color. They are perched on rhombic Calcite crystals which are cleaved on the two sides of the specimen. These cleavage planes have a high glossy luster. On one side of the specimen, the Calcite cleaves are black on color. On the other side, the cleaves are light brown in color with thin, darker colored layered zones.

Condition: Good

Flaws: The Calcite is cleaved on both sides of the specimens. The Vanadinite crystals at the top of the specimen are in good condition with only few incomplete crystals.
