Mineral Specimen #5448 Quartz with Included Montmorillonite
Stewart Mine, Tourmaline Queen Mountain, Pala, San Diego Co., California
6.9 x 3 x 2.8 cm
Sold
An interesting Quartz crystal colored a light pink color with micro inclusions of the clay mineral, Montmorillonite. A note on the color: in some areas in the picture, the pink color is a little more vivid than in real life. The crystal is unusual in being composed of simple, large, large flat faces on one side and on the other composed of many, double terminated, subcrystals. The specimen appears to have been originally double terminated, but one end is broken at the end which later, partially healed. The luster is a good gloss with the exception of the recessed area composed of subcrystals.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: There is some minor chipping on the healed end of the specimen.
