Mineral Specimen #5380    Fluorite and Calcite in Copper Harbor Conglomerate

Five Mile Point, Lake Superior Shoreline, near Eagle River, Keweenaw Co., Michigan

Vivid green Fluorite from Michigan. This is very hard material to obtain and came from just one small deposit on the shoreline of Lake Superior. The Fluorite fluoresces bright blue to rival any from England. Additionally, under SW, the encasing Calcite fluoresces light pink and the Fluorite fluoresces blue although not as strongly as under LW. The Fluorite is damaged crystal. There are a few, crude Calcite crystals partially intact.

Condition: Good

Flaws: Essentially massive material. The Fluorite shows cleavage planes.

7.7 x 4.2 x 2.8 cm
