Mineral Specimen #5326    Selenite on Sponge Copper

3400G level, Copper Queen Mine, Queen Hill, Bisbee, Warren Dist., Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona

Thin bladed crystals of Selenite crystals which have formed on a mass of spongy, native Copper. The color of the Selenite is off white to clear and has a high glossy luster. In places, the Selenite is colored orange/tan by deposits of iron oxides. The surface of the Copper has a reddish color which appears to be caused by a coating of Cuprite.

Condition: Good

Flaws: A small piece of Copper is partially loose and can be wiggled back and forth.
