Mineral Specimen #5173 Pink Petrified Wood Limb Cast
Texas Spring Canyon, Contact District, Elko Co., Nevada
This specimen is an example of a tree limb inwhich the original wood completely dissolved or decayed away. A cast was left behind which was then complexly filled with pink colored Chalcedony. Thus, no growth rings or cell structure remains like most petrified wood. Some bark patterns are present on one side of the specimen. The end has been polished to a high finish. The Chalcedony is very translucent when back lit.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: There are two small, hairline cracks on the edges of the polished end.
6.1 x 3.8 x 2.6 cm
