Mineral Specimen #5171 Oolitic Calcite variety: Porcupine Eggs

A mass of elongated, spherical and partially hollow Calcite aggregates. The color is off white with atractive purple areas. There are a few pointed, secondary crystals resting on the surface of the rounded aggregates. This specimen was in Gary Beaman's collection. I can find no reference to the term Porcupine Eggs.
