Mineral Specimen #5114    Platttnerite with Hemimorphite

Mina Ojuela, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico

8.3 x 6.2 x 4.6 cm

The surface of this specimen is covered with Plattnerite crystals which are a dark brown almost black color. The crystals are elongated with flat, broad surfaces and are fairly large for the species. The Plattnerite has a high luster which gives it a sparkly appearance. Resting on the Plattnerite crystals are interesting Hemimorphite crystals which have a complex, atypical habit. These crystals also have a high luster and are semi gemmy. The color is white to clear with a slight orange tint.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
