Mineral Specimen #5101    Iridescent Sphalerite, Quartz, Calcite, minor Pyrite

Camp Bird Mine, Camp Bird, Sneffels District, Ouray, San Juan Mts, Ouray Co., Colorado

A cluster of well formed Sphalerite crystals which have a very attractive dark blue/purple iridescence. For the most part, the faces of the crystals are smooth, but a few are striated. Individuals faces can exhibit just one color. There are small bladed Calcite crystals on the surface of some of these crystals which are an off white color with a hint of pink. Also present on the back of the specimen, there are micro Pyrite and Quartz crystals.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: There is some very slight wear on some of the edges.
