Mineral Specimen #5055 Gyrolite on Serpentine
Fort Point, San Francisco, San Francisco Co., California (foot of Golden Gate Bridge)
Ex. Steve Pullman, Ex. Jewell Tunnel Imports, Ex. Burton Jirgl aka "Jerk Burgle", pre 1986
Small spherical masses of off white colored Gyrolite. Not really much of Gyrolite specimen, but what a location piece from the very base of the Golden Gate Bridge on the San Francisco side. The site is also the location of a Civil War fort which predates the bridge. From the look of the ascension label on the bottom of the specimen, it appears to be quite an old specimen. No record of where Burt Jirgl got the specimen. The bottom of the specimen is green serpentine with an interesting area which has a high, metallic like luster.
Condition: Fairly Good
Flaws: Nothing Appreciable
6.5 x 4.6 x 1.8 cm
