Mineral Specimen #4895 Fluorapatite Crystal with minor Hematite, Chalcopyrite, Calcite
Pea Ridge Mine, Sullivan, Washington Co., Missouri
A chocolate brown colored Apatite crystal which is a unique color for which the location is famous. Such crystals are highly sought after. The crystal is well formed with a termination which is steeply beveled on one side. The surfaces of the crystal have a glossy luster. There are small areas where there are micro crystals of Hematite. There are also a few small Chalcopyrite crystals scattered across the surfaces.
Flaws: One side of the specimen is damaged and there is a damaged area where the termination meets the side at the lowest part of the slope.
