A scalenohedral Calcite crystal with an overgrowth composed of second generation rhombahedral Calcite crystals in a stepped habit; similar to those once found in the Tri State district of the US (see Specimen #4405). This location is known for this type of Calcite habit with this specimen being a large example of such. This specimen has been previously posted on mindat.org at Specimen NAF-0K9. Note: the colors in our photos are a bit more true than those on mindat. On the bottom of the specimen, in the third photo, the bottom of spherical aggregate of bladed Barite crystals can be seen. This has also been covered with the second generation of Calcite. There is a thin layer between the two generations of Calcite which appears to be Hematite.
Condition: Very Good
Flaws: There is a single spot near the termination which is a contact point from another crystal.
