Mineral Specimen #4801    Specular Hematite, Quartz

Florence Mine. Egremont. West Cumberland Iron Field. Cumbria. England

Bladed, specular Hematite crystals on a matrix of massive Hematite. The crystals are black in color with a high metallic luster resulting in an attractive, sparkly appearance. There are also small Quartz crystals present resting on the bladed crystals. These Quartz crystals have a bipyrmidal habit and two are colored a reddish color due to micro inclusions of Hematite. This is classic material from the now defunct iron fields of England. The specimen stands well without the use of a prop with the crystal covered surface at a nice angle.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: Nothing Appreciable

5.1 x 3.1 x 4.3 cm
