Mineral Specimen #4651    Amethyst Coconut Geode with Calcite and Goethite

Chihuahua, Mexico

Ex. Don Langham, Prior to 1974

A thin walled coconut geode filled stubby, light lilac/purple colored Amethyst crystals. There are numerous, elongated, thin, black colored Goethite crystals which have grown from the Amethyst. Also, a grouping of chocolate brown colored Calcite crystals have grown on the Amethyst.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: The specimen has not been polished. One of the Calcite crystals has been cut. There is some grit still stuck to some of the crystals just below the cut surface on the thicker half of the specimen.
