Mineral Specimen #458    Lazulite, Siderite and Fluorapatite

Rapid Creek, Dawson Mining District, Yukon Territory, Canada

This specimen has two quite different sides which each display well. On one side, there is a mix of Lazulite, Fluorapatite, Siderite and Quartz crystals. The Fluorapatite crystals are white to clear, hexagonal in habit, and can be seen in the closeup photos. The Lazulite is a dark blue color, the Siderite golden brown and the Quartz is composed of sparkly litlle micro crystals. On the other side of the specimen, the Lazulite and Sideirte predominate and contrast nicely. Many of the Siderite crystals are quite gemmy. The specimen is in good condition with very little damage. When I bought the specimen, the Fluorapatite was labeled as being Whiteite.
