Mineral Specimen #4583    Large Galena Specimen with Bar Crystal

Gyudyurska Mine (Gjudrska), Zlatograd, Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria

Ex. Ross Lillie

A rather large Galena specimen with interesting shaped crystals with one notable, large, elongated, cubic crystal. The faces of the crystals have complex growth patterns. The specimen has a good, metallic luster.

Condition: Very Good

Flaws: In one area in the back, there has been some deterioation of the Galena resulting in a white powder similar to what is seen with other sulfides, notably Marcasite. There is little concern because the process is very slow, I have had the specimen since 1998 and there has been little if any change.

14.8 x 13.2 x 14.6 cm
Bar crystal is 7.5 x 3.0 x 2.9 cm
