Mineral Specimen #457    Gemmy Spessartine Garnet on Microcline

Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China

12 x 9.5 x 2.8 cm

Sold

Many of the Spessartine Garnets on this specimen are very gemmy and well formed crystals. The color of these crystals is a nice orange color which is lighter than most of the material seen from this location. The Microcline crystals are rather crude shaped. On the backside of the specimen, there is more Spessartine and the coverage is actually fuller, but the color is darker and more brown. On the backside, there are also small Mica crystals covered with a green crust which is probably Chlorite.
