Mineral Specimen #4510    Limonite

Waterville, Kennebec Co., Maine

Ex. A. Neely, 1960s

A convoluted, snake like mass of stalactic Limonite. The color is a dark maroon in the interior with a greenish cast to the surfaces. An unusual specimen for the location (or for Maine even). There is a slightly similar specimen posted on mindat, but it is from a location quite a ways to the north, at the Katahdin Iron Works Mine, in Piscataquis County.

Condition: Fairly Good

Flaws: The stalactite growths are all broken on its ends.

4.3 x 2.3 x 2.6 cm
