Mineral Specimen #439 Cornetite
Bwana M'Kubwa Mine, Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia
7.5 x 4.5 x 2.5 cm
Sold
Cu3(PO4)(OH)
This specimen is from a mine which operated from before World War I until 1984. From the references from the 1920s listed on the old Ward's label, it can be assumed the specimen is from sometime relatively soon thereafter. The Cornetite consists of sparkly, very small, micro crystals which varies quite a bit in color from a blue/green to a blue so dark it almost black. Although the Cornetite is a bit sparse, few specimens from this location are ever available.
