Mineral Specimen #4337 Gold in Brecciated Limonite Matrix
Fountain Vein, Farncomb Hill, French Gulch, Breckenridge District, Summit Co.,Colorado
On this cut slab specimen, native gold is present in some of the voids in an oxidized, spongey, brecciated limonite matrix. This is classic material from the easternmost vein of the vein lodes of Fancomb Hill and was mined in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The Gold is concentrated along one edge of the specimen with occasional small blebs elsewhere. There are no saw marks visible on the specimen.
The specimen is in very good condition with no appreciable damage.
