Ex. Hoisinger collection

A single Ruby crystal with a medium pink/red color which is not quite as vivid in real life as in the photos. Much of the sides have a thin coating of dark Biotite. If this was removed with micro blasting or even a wire brush, the appearance would be greatly enhanced. Under LW UV, the specimen fluoresces a pure red, but not very vividly and only quite close to the light. Again, removal of the Biotite would greatly enhance this property also. A note on the location: Mysore has been producing Rubies for many years and they were readily available on the market. However, according to some sources, the location has recently been closed. The specimen is in good condition with the exception of the Biotite coating and that the specimen seems a bit rounded as if waterworn.
