Tynagh Mine, Killimor, Co. Galway, Ireland

Ex. H.R. McBroom, from trade with Sam Weller, 1982

Much of this specimen is covered with white to clear colored Cerussite crystals. Some of the clear crystals are well formed and show twinning. The Cerussite has a high glossy luster. Amongst the Cerussite crystals, there are small, dark blue Azurite crystals with a high sparkly luster. Also present are rounded masses of dark green Malachite. There are other instances of Malachite present which are vivid green in color and composed of tufts of fibrous crystals. The underlying matrix is massive, white Barite much of which is stained with iron oxides. The specimen is in good condition with no appreciable damage.
