Mineral Specimen #4103    Smithsonite Rice Crystals

Chihuahua, Mexico

Ex. A. Neely 1960s

Small, rounded crystals of Smithsonite commonly referred to as 'rice' crystals. The color is a very attractive blue/green similar to that of specimens from the Kelly Mine. The crystals are translucent which can be seen in the close up pictures where the specimen was back lit. The surfaces of the crystals has a silky luster. The specimen is in good condition however, there is some damage to a few of the crystals.
