Mineral Specimen #403 Dravite Tourmaline
Soklich Open Cut, Yinnietharra Station, Pilbara Region, Western Australia, Australia
This is quite a large Dravite specimen. It is a nice chocolate brown color with some gemmy sections which are a lighter color. One end of the specimen is composed of a termination of one large crystal and the other end of the specimen splits into multiple terminated crystals, some of which end part way across the specimen. There is a bit of wear on the crystal edges. This is clearly visible as a lighter color in the photos and primarily at the end with the multiple terminations. Originally, when I purchased the specimen, it was heavily oiled which hid much of this wear. I washed the specimen in hot water several times to return it to its more natural state.
