Mineral Specimen #4039    Schefferite (Manganese Rich Diopside), Calcite, Willemite

Franklin, Sussex Co., New Jersey

Ex. Steve Pullman

Portions of Schefferite crystals frozen within cleaved Calcite and an unidentified black mineral (likely Hornblende). The Schefferite is a maroon/brown color and much fractured. Willemite is apparent when the specimen is exposed to SW UV which also causes the Calcite to fluoresce orange (neither is particularly strongly fluorescent). The specimen is composed of massive material.
