Mineral Specimen #4032    Malachite on Chalcocite on Quartz

Kaokoveld Plateau, Kunene Region, Namibia

7.2 x 5.2 x 3.5 cm

Sold

Lustrous blocky crystals of Malachite which are a rich dark green color are on one surface of this specimen composed primarily of massive Chalcocite and Quartz. There are small, micro, clear crystals of an unidentified species on the surface of the Malachite crystals. The Chalcocite is silver to dark gray in color with a few flashes of blue iridescence. The luster of the Chalcocite is a high metallic where it is the silver color and less so in the darker areas. The Chalcocite is intermixed in places with massive Malachite. The specimen is in good condition on the surface with the Malachite crystals with no appreciable damage. The rest of the specimen is massive.
