Mineral Specimen #3876 Copper, Calcite with Included Copper
Quincy Mine, Houghton Co., Michigan
There are two very nice clear Calcite crystals with brightly colored included Copper; however, they are tucked into a recessed area and are difficult to display. The Copper on the rest of the specimen has a very dark, almost black, patina. This Copper is a mass of highly modified, thin, elongated spinel twin crystals with thin flanges. These Copper crystals are in a generally parallel orientation and are in places curved. There is also another cleaved Calcite crystal on the top of the specimen.
The specimen is in fairly good condition
