Mineral Specimen #3842    Zanazziite on Tourmaline

Ponte do Piaui claim, Piaui valley, Taquaral, Itinga, Jequitinhona Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Micro crystals of the rare phosphate, Zanazziite, cover all but two surfaces of this specimen. The Zanazziite is a brown color with olive overtones in places and reddish overtones in other places. The Tourmaline is dark but when back lit can be seen as being gemmy and a blue green color. The underlying Microcline is a light peach pink color. The specimen is in fairly good condition but the Tourmaline crystals are not terminated. Also, there are a couple of small scuffed areas on the Zanazziite.
