Mineral Specimen #3550    Benitoite

Gem Mine, San Benito County, California, USA

Type Location

A number of dark blue Benitoite crystals contrast nicely with the white Natrolite (which has been acid etched to reveal the crystals). The color is very good for the species. The crystals are semi gemmy. Under SW UV, the Benitoite fluoresces bright blue. The specimen is in fairly good condition but a few of the crystals have minor damage, including the largest crystal. Some of the crystals have internal cleaves.

4.4 x 3.7 x 1.7 cm
largest crystal is 19 mm long.
